Water Department
The property owner is responsible for the water line from the meter to the home and the home itself.
A 5% penalty is added to your bill and a final notice will be mailed with a disconnect date. If your bill is not paid by the disconnect date, your water will be shut off and a $45.00 fee will be added to your next bill.
Wastewater is the water that goes down the drain. The wastewater charge on your bill is for treating and recycling of the water, so it can return to the Smoky Hill River.
Effective June 1 through September 30 of every year, you may NOT water between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. We ask that you be cognizant of the water you are using and conserve whenever possible.
Approximately 30-45 days after starting services.
If you pay your past due balance before 4:30 PM, your water will be back on by 5:00 PM.
We get our water from the Smoky Hill River and 15 groundwater wells located throughout central Salina. Those two sources meet our need of over 2 billion (with a B) gallons per year.
All new customers have to pay an $80.00 deposit, which is split into two installments on your first and second bills. If you have 12 months of good payment history, your deposit will be refunded back to you plus interest or when your account is terminated whichever comes first.
It's likely due to higher water consumption. Are you watering? If so, you may try adjusting your settings. Also, check to make sure your toilet(s) isn't running or cycling, faucets, outside spigots, washing machine hook-ups, etc.
If you have been a customer for 12 months your wastewater charge is based on your average. Your average is often calculated using January, February and March when most customers use less water and will remain the same until April of the following year.
If you haven't paid your past due balance, you have likely been disconnected for non-payment.
